- Download NyxenSetup.exe — one file, 42.9 MB.
- Run it. No administrator rights needed. If SmartScreen warns you: More info → Run anyway. It opens Nyxen when it finishes.
- Make your free Nyxen account in the app — a name and a password. Steam, your launchers and RetroArch are found where they already are.

Good to know
Is Nyxen free?
Yes. Everything on this page is free and stays free — library, mods, Minecraft, retro, friends, messages, calls, GIF profile pictures and the Space. Nyxen Eclipse is an optional extra for rings, your own animated theme and a voice changer.
Do I need an account?
Yes — a free Nyxen account. You make it in the app with a name and a password, in a few seconds. Your friends, messages, the Space and your settings live on it.
Why does Windows warn me when I install it?
Nyxen isn't code-signed yet, and SmartScreen warns about any installer without a paid certificate. Click More info → Run anyway. If you'd like to be sure the file wasn't changed, compare its SHA-256 with the one above.
How do updates work?
Nyxen checks for a new build by itself every half hour, downloads it in the background and tells you. Click Restart to update at the top — or just close Nyxen and it installs on the way out. Every download is checked against its published SHA-256 first.
Can my friends join my Space?
Yes. Send them an invite from the Space or Messages — they get a card and walk straight in. They need Nyxen and their own free account too.
Will it slow my games down?
It shouldn't. Animated themes stop when Nyxen isn't in front, and when you close the window Nyxen waits quietly in the tray by the clock — messages and calls still reach you. You can also Quit it from the tray.
Is anything uploaded from my PC?
Your library, screenshots, notes and statistics stay on your PC. Mod downloads come straight from the mod sites. What you share with friends — messages, your profile, the Space — goes through the Nyxen server your account is on, so they can see it.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
Not yet — Nyxen is Windows 10 and 11 only.
